This morning, scattered clouds and fog will affect coastal areas. Highs will range from 25 to 27 degrees Celsius from the beaches to downtown Los Angeles, 32 to 38 degrees Celsius in the San Fernando and Antelope valleys, 27 to 38 degrees Celsius in the San Gabriel Valley, and 34 to 38 degrees Celsius in the Santa Clarita Valley. In the inland deserts, temperatures will range from 38 to 43 degrees Celsius, with lows of 27 degrees Celsius.

Almost all areas will be 3 to 5 degrees warmer today compared to yesterday. In the valleys it will be a few degrees warmer than normal, while on the coasts and inland it will be a few degrees colder.

According to the National Weather Service, there will be a four-day warming trend starting Sunday. Highs will rise 1 to 3 degrees daily from Sunday through Tuesday. By Wednesday, temperatures will only reach 21 degrees on the beaches, while on the rest of the coasts temperatures will reach 27 degrees and below 32 degrees. Temperatures in the valleys are expected to range from 32 to just over 38 degrees.

Triple-digit temperatures will also be seen inland and in the lower mountains. Although still warm, temperatures should be a few degrees below critical heat warning thresholds.

On this day in 1918, an unseasonable cold front passed through the region, producing some of the lowest maximum temperatures on record.
