Fashionistas: Get your credit cards ready. A replica of one of the most iconic dresses in fashion history — Jennifer Lopez’s jungle-print Versace Grammy gown — is now for sale on luxury consignment reseller site TheRealReal. But, unsurprisingly, the famous dress comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

The dress appears to be a replica of the unforgettable, nearly nude design Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards (which caused such a stir at the time that it led to the launch of Google Images). It’s being offered on TheRealReal for $4,995 and is described as being in “pristine” condition.

While the design is known for its plunging neckline that falls to the belly button, this set includes a matching bodysuit with jungle-print straps that can be worn underneath for added modesty. Lopez recreated her fashion moment nearly two decades later during the Versace Spring 2020 runway show in Milan.

The true reality

According to TheRealReal’s listing, the 100% silk dress comes in US size 4 and only one is available for purchase.

Although the dress made waves on the 2000 Grammys red carpet, Lopez was not the first to wear the design. The original was worn by model Amber Valletta when she opened Versace’s Spring/Summer 2000 runway show, but her dress was shorter and knee-length. Donatella Versace also wore the dress herself at the 1999 Met Gala, which featured the theme “Rock Style,” and Spice Girl Geri Haliwell debuted the tropical design on a red carpet a month before Lopez.

Surprisingly, when J.Lo chose the Versace dress, the look was put together at the last minute as she was busy filming The wedding planner with Matthew McConaughey. “Usually when you come to one of my fittings, you see a ton of dresses. But on this day, the day of the Grammys, we really had a choice between two dresses,” Lopez said. “One was like a white dress and the other was the Versace jungle print dress.”

Ultimately, her longtime manager Benny Medina convinced J.Lo to wear the Versace dress. “I put on the green dress and I come out, and Benny says, ‘This is it. This is it. Don’t even talk about it. This is the dress,'” she says. “And of course my stylist is horrified. She says, ‘No! This has been worn before!’ But the guys were persistent and we said OK.”
