The Mummy Film franchise with Brendan Fraser began in 1999 with The Mummya remake of the 1932 Universal classic Monsters. This 1999 film was the start of an action-fantasy series and is considered one of the ultimate adventure films of the 90s. Brendan Fraser’s recent comeback has also breathed new life into these films.

Alex accidentally puts on the Bracelet of Anubis, which gives him visions of Ahm Shere, a magical oasis. An evil cult kidnaps Alex and forces him to lead the way to Ahm Shere, where the Scorpion King resides. It’s a crucial role in the film, and Alex has a lot of screen time in important scenes.


Boath was offered a role in another major franchise that same year. The mummy returns Harry Potter — however, it is not known what role the young actor would have played The Philosopher’s Stone (above FandomWire). Apparently, Boath was a big fan of the 1999 The Mummy and could not miss the chance to participate. Without knowing what role he would play in Harry Potterit’s hard to say how good or bad his decision was. But unless he wanted to play Ron Weasley or even Harry Potter himself, Boath probably made the right decision.

There’s also the possibility that he could have played Neville Longbottom, but even then Boath would have had no way of knowing how important that character would ultimately be to the franchise.


Seamus Finnigan could have been the role Boath chose, as Boath and Seamus’ actor Devon Murray look alike. There is also the possibility that he could have played Neville Longbottom, but even then Boath could not have known how important this character would end up being to the series. All in all, Boath made the right choice for himself, and even For his portrayal of Alex O’Connell, he was nominated for a Saturn Award and a Young Artist Award.

Boath retired from acting in 2013 after a four-part appearance in another production with an Egyptian theme, House of Anubisas Benji Reed. Boath has since left the industry and currently works at London-based PageGroup as an advertising manager (via The sun). He graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 with a BA in Drama, but then moved into sales, working as a sales negotiator at Dexter Estates Agents and Hamptons International (via LinkedIn). Boath then became a consultant at PageGroup and steadily worked his way up the career ladder.
