Back when I was acting, I worked with a very cruel man. I won’t say his name, but he was a terrible bully and probably wouldn’t have done it. Today he could probably get away with it, but that was a long time ago, in the early 80s.

Gary Oldman further explained in the interview that filmmaker Oliver Stone can be one of those directors who can take a beating. He makes it clear that the filmmaker wants to do good work and does not do the work just for the sake of it. Oldman appeared in Stone’s 1991 JFK Airport.

He also added that Lamb, in his own very strange way, is incredibly loyal to the team, even when he makes their lives difficult.

In a cover story for The Wrap, Gary Oldman shared that his character in Slow horses has no filter, doesn’t care about being judged, and has nothing to lose. He also noted that there is something very freeing and redeeming about playing characters like that who don’t care about anything.

During the interview, the actor explained that the role of the head of the Slough House allows him to wear the same clothes in almost every episode; he never has to worry about makeup or shape for a new season. He added:

I’m so grateful that I can come in and wear these old clothes that never change. I’m wearing the same shoes that I’ve been wearing since Episode 1. It’s pretty fun to almost be in your own clothes, you know? The whole thing with the greasy hair, the infrequent bathing, the holes in the socks – it’s all meant to make people underestimate him.

The actor further revealed that he had used Mick Herron’s research Slough House books before filming and turns to showrunner Will Smith to ask if he can add his favorite lines to the scripts. The new trailer for season four has just been released, showing the team doing what they do best – helping to solve a case.

Season 4 deals with a possible terrorist attack on a shopping mall. The team also deals with their problems, family issues and street unrest, which will be covered in the upcoming season.

Slow horses Premieres September 4, 2024 on Apple TV+.
