Yankees superstar likely signs contract worth “more than half a billion dollars”

The lottery for New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto doesn’t begin until the end of the season, but it will dominate the headlines.

With about a month and a half of the regular season remaining, the Yankees are positioning themselves to be in the race for the top spot in the American League playoff race.

This could greatly aid their hopes of re-signing Soto, who is set to receive a contract worth “more than half a billion dollars,” according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

“Juan Soto has been a game-changer for the Yankees this season and appears to be a top-five prospect for American League MVP. He will likely sign a contract worth more than half a billion dollars, and both New York teams are expected to bid for his services,” Bowden wrote.

While Soto’s teammate Aaron Judge is currently the favorite for the MVP award, Soto himself is enjoying an incredible season.

On Monday, Soto hit .304/.429/.589 with 30 home runs, 82 RBI and an OPS+ of 181. He also had 95 walks and 24 doubles.

The Yankees need to open their checkbook for Soto, and they should do so eagerly. The combination of Soto and Judge is exactly the kind of foundation that can make a deep playoff run possible.

We will see what happens with Soto in a few months, but the 25-year-old will sign a huge contract.
