While the legendary movie monsters from the “Alien” series return to the big screen this weekend, they can also be found here in Chicago.

Tristian “TrisRex” Johnson is a local artist who combined his love of “Xenomorphs” (the actual name of the creatures from the “Alien” movies) with his incredible artistic talent. Johnson used his skills to create four life-sized, movie-quality Xenomorphs that live in his West Side garage.

“The first time I saw an ‘Alien’ movie was James Cameron’s ‘Aliens’ in 1986,” said Johnson – and from that moment on, his passion for the terrifying creature was born.

Each life-size monster takes about a year and a half to create, starting with a sketch pad and ending with a foam replica.

Fans of the franchise who want to see them only have to travel to local fan conventions like C2E2 to see them in person – where they have captured the attention and admiration of franchise fans around the world.

The next time the Xenomorphs will be seen on the big screen is when “Alien: Romulus” hits theaters on Friday.
