Xbox Game Pass Subscribers will lose access to at least three games on August 31, but it’s always possible that even more titles will be cut than expected. The Xbox Game Pass Ending Soon section is often updated before Microsoft issues the official notice about the next games to be discontinued. While this is a fairly reliable way to know which titles will be discontinued next, sometimes the section isn’t 100% comprehensive.

Currently, Microsoft has not announced the Wave 2 Xbox Game Pass games for August 2024. It’s possible that Xbox’s plans for Gamescom 2024 will mess things up, but it’s also possible that Microsoft simply doesn’t have much to announce for Game Pass for the second half of August 2024. Regardless of whether an official announcement is made or not, we know of at least three games leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31st.

A recent addition to the Xbox Game Pass library is proving to be a huge hit with subscribers.

It was confirmed by the Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section that Atomic Heart, Guilty Gear StriveAnd NBA2K24 all depart on August 31st. Atomic Heart was a controversial post-apocalyptic FPS that was first released in 2023 as a day-one Game Pass game. Atomic Heart received mixed reviews from critics, as did the departure of Game Pass NBA2K24. Guilty Gear Strive is arguably the biggest loss for Xbox Game Pass when it comes to games expiring on August 31st, as it was one of the highest-rated new releases of 2021 and is by far one of the best fighting games available on the service.

For those who don’t know: Guilty Gear Strive is the latest main series entry in the long-running Guilty equipment fighting game franchise. Guilty Gear Strive received rave reviews at the time of its release for its solid gameplay and striking art style, and even managed to win the award for Best Fighting Game at the 2021 Game Awards. New content continues to be released for Guilty Gear Strive to date, and fans can look forward to several new characters in the coming months with Season Pass 4.

Again, it’s possible that even more games will leave Xbox Game Pass on August 31st, but to be sure, fans will have to wait for the official announcement of Wave 2. The Xbox Game Pass August 2024 Wave 2 announcement will also likely put the spotlight on the other games coming to the service in the second half of August 2024, so it will be interesting to see what all subscribers will be able to play by the end of the month. So far, only a few games are confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in the second half of August 2024: Core Keeper on 27 August and SOPA: The story of the stolen potatofor which there is no specific release date yet.
