Woodward Dream Cruise gains momentum with Oakland County activities – The Oakland Press

The annual Woodward Dream Cruise is gearing up for region-wide car shows, car parades and entertainment on Friday and Saturday, August 16-17.

Berkeley

• Berkley Cruisefest will be held Friday, August 16, in downtown Berkley. The Classic Car Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and travels down 12 Mile Road from Woodward to Greenfield. Following the parade, there will be children’s activities, the outdoor movie “Cars” at The Neighbors Shoppe, 2833 12 Mile, and live music by Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations at 12 Mile Road and Robina Avenue, www.berkleymich.org/cruisefest.

Birmingham

• The Birmingham Cruise Event will be held Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on South Old Woodward Ave. in downtown Birmingham during the Woodward Dream Cruise. Presented by the Birmingham Shopping District, www.ALLINBirmingham.com/cruiseevent, featuring hundreds of vintage vehicles, sponsor displays and interactive exhibits from Chevrolet, as well as official Cruise and Detroit merchandise from The Detroit Shoppe and other vendors. Bloomfield Hills

• The nonprofit Danny’s Miracle Angel Network Foundation (D-MAN) is seeking community support for its annual Dreams Come True on Woodward event. D-Man has a goal of providing 100 Dream Rides for cruisers with disabilities. Individuals or groups can also support the cause by sponsoring a participant’s ride with a $100 donation to the foundation. The Dreams Come True on Woodward event includes a party, free to people with disabilities and their families, provided by the D-MAN Foundation and its supporting partners and donors. It will be held Aug. 16 from noon to 4 p.m. in the backyard of the Dawda Mann Building, 39533 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills. The foundation welcomes participants with disabilities and is seeking additional volunteer drivers with convertibles, mydman.org/dreamcruise or by calling 248-459-1340.

Ferndale

• Ferndale will host activities on Nine Mile Road and Woodward Avenue August 16-17. On August 16: Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show will be from 1-7 p.m.; Woodward Dream Cruise official opening ceremony will be at 5 p.m.; Lights & Sirens Cruise will be at 5:30 p.m. (starts at the corner of E. Nine Mile Road and Woodward Ave. north to 11 Mile Road and back). Events both days include Kids Car Club and Play Zone, Rock’n Live Entertainment, and food and trade booths, http://FerndaleDreamCruise.com.

• The Mustang Alley Show will be held on August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Nine Mile Road from Planavon to Hilton Road. The entrance is on Hilton Road at East 9 Mile Road. Oak Park

• The Oak Park “Cruise & Groove” car show will be held August 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Water Tower Social District, 14700 Kingston Street, Oak Park. It is free and open to the public and features local classic cars, live music, food and more.
