Woad receives McCormack Medal as world’s leading amateur golfer

Excellent year

Professor Steve Otto, Chief Technology Officer at The R&A, said: “Lottie has had a very successful year in which she has consistently performed to a high standard and her results, including victory in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, make her a thoroughly deserving recipient of the Ladies’ McCormack Medal.
“We would like to congratulate Lottie on this outstanding achievement and look forward to witnessing the success of her golf career in the years to come.
“The list of previous McCormack Medalists reads like a who’s who of today’s top professional talent and underscores the tremendous dedication and passion required to reach the world’s number one amateur ranking,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA Chief Championships Officer.
“Lottie’s performance is a testament to her tireless effort and determination. On behalf of the entire USGA, we congratulate her on this remarkable honor.”

History of the McCormack Medal

The R&A and the USGA jointly award the McCormack Medal each year. It is named after Mark H. McCormack, the founder of the sports marketing company IMG and a great supporter of amateur golf.

The World Amateur Golf Ranking, supported by Rolex, was launched in 2007 with the introduction of the men’s rankings. The men’s rankings cover over 3,900 events with 4,660 players from 118 countries. The women’s rankings were launched in 2011 and cover a calendar of around 2,650 events with more than 3,033 ranked players from 90 countries.
