With fast food prices on the rise, we’re all looking for ways to enjoy the same delicious meals for less. And this new TikTok hack will have you covered the next time you eat at Applebee’s.
The fast-casual restaurant is known for its all-American bar menu as well as its legendary all-you-can-eat buffet, which is offered regularly in the store throughout the year.
But if you’re craving something bigger than chicken wings and ribs, this hack features good, old-fashioned cheeseburgers.
Kayleigh Leon, a popular TikTok food blogger with over 27 million likes, posted a video comparing the kids’ menu at Applebee’s to the adult menu on August 19, 2024. The video was viewed 186,000 times in just under 12 hours and shows customers how to get big discounts on their meal.
Kayleigh compares a standard cheeseburger and fries from Applebee’s to a kid’s version of the same thing. And spoiler alert: You can’t even tell the difference.
Both burgers, served in a shiny and delicious looking brioche bun, are exactly the same size and are served with the same portion of fries.
But imagine: The adult menu costs $12.99, the kids menu costs $6.99 and includes a drink, so you’re getting a meal for half the price.
Of course, this isn’t the case in all restaurants and the kids’ menus are usually much smaller there, but Applebee’s doesn’t take its burgers too seriously.
In the comments, people were speechless, with one noting: “The portion sizes look pretty identical to me at the moment lol.”
Others confirmed that this trick is generally well received by the popular restaurant chain: “We always order to take away and three quarters of us order from the kids’ menu. It saves us so much money.”
People have had similar experiences at other restaurant chains. One person said that the kids’ and adult burgers at Culver’s are identical: “The kids’ menu is not only cheaper, it literally costs the same as a small meal and comes with ice cream.”
Someone also mentioned that the kids cheese pizza at Cheesecake Factory is exactly the same as the flatbread cheese pizza on the regular menu, which costs $3 more. The more you know.
