Willie Brown calls Trump’s helicopter story “creative fiction”

Willie Brown calls Trump’s helicopter story “creative fiction”

Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown said former President Trump’s story that he almost died in a helicopter with him was not true, calling it “creative fiction.”

At a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Thursday, Trump said he and Brown were once in a helicopter that was forced to make an emergency landing.

“Well, I know Willie Brown very well,” Trump said, claiming they had a bumpy helicopter ride.

“We thought maybe this was the end,” Trump said. “We were in a helicopter together on our way to a certain location and then there was an emergency landing. It was not a pleasant landing.”

The former president said Democrat Brown told him “horrible things” about Vice President Harris on the flight.

Brown later denied that claim to KRON4 on Thursday.

“He did what Donald does best: his creative fiction,” he said with a laugh, the outlet reported.

Brown, who launched Harris’ career in politics, told the broadcaster he had never done business with Trump.

“And secondly, I don’t think I would want to be flying in the same helicopter as him. There are too many people who have an agenda with him, including the people who maintain helicopters,” he said.

Others have disputed Trump’s story about the helicopter flight, including California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who was on the flight and called Trump’s story “bullshit.”

The New York Times reported that another Brown was on board the flight: Newsom’s predecessor, former Governor Jerry Brown (D).

“There was no emergency landing and no discussion about Kamala Harris,” Jerry Brown told the Times through a spokesman.

Willie Brown, 90, recently commented on Harris’s stormy campaign after she took the top spot on the Democratic ticket following President Biden’s withdrawal.

Harris is one of the former mayor’s protégés. The two were together in the 1990s, a relationship that proved fatal to her during her 2020 presidential campaign.

Brown said he supports Harris in her campaign. He told KRON4 on Thursday that she was a good friend, “absolutely beautiful,” “damn smart” and very successful.

“I have been involved in every campaign she has ever been in, supported her to the best of my ability and will continue to do so,” he said. “And I’m just looking forward to the next 89 days.”

“I can’t wait to have her as president,” Brown said.
