Slaughter, author of over 20 books, started her Will Trent series in 2006 with the novel triptychHis story was adapted into the hit ABC show starring Ramón Rodríguez, which has attracted over 70 million viewers since its premiere in January 2023.

“It’s a crime drama with a lot of heart that doesn’t take itself too seriously,” the actor previously told PEOPLE. “Sometimes it laughs at itself. I think that’s the only fine line we’ve been able to walk so far. There’s some seriousness, some drama, but we still manage to walk that fine line and add some humor and lightness.”
