The GOAT will be in the commentary booth this NFL season.

After a year off from football, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady will make his broadcast debut for Fox in 2024.

After his second retirement, he signed a ten-year, $375 million contract with Fox, but retired from the sport during the 2023 season to spend time with his family.

Now Brady is ready to show the world his football knowledge as he comments on prime-time games year-round.

When can we expect to hear Brady’s voice in the announcer’s booth for the first time? The Sporting News takes a closer look below.

Is Tom Brady commentating on a preseason game?

No, Brady will not do NFL preseason commentary. Fox Sports has not revealed why Brady’s debut will wait until the regular season.

By comparison, CBS also delayed Tony Romo’s debut as a television host until the regular season. Romo immediately made a splash in the locker room and was quickly named to CBS’ A-Team alongside Jim Nantz.

Expect Brady to have similar success once he steps behind the microphone and gives NFL fans a glimpse into one of the brightest minds in football history.

When will Tom Brady make his broadcast debut?

Brady will make his debut as a television anchor when the Cowboys and Browns meet in Week 1 on Fox. The game will be played at 4:25 p.m. ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Fox Sports announced Brady’s debut game during a “Fox NFL Sunday” media presentation on May 13 in New York City.

Michael Strahan hinted at Brady’s debut before the former star quarterback had a chance to express his excitement about his first game as a sportscaster.

“Amazing. Of course, having the Cowboys there is a big draw. As ‘America’s Team,’ it’s going to be hard for me to say that all the time. You have to understand that they’ve been the competition for a long time,” Brady said.

“But in this new role, I know the Cowboys and how important they are to this network. They have great storylines. Come on, Dak Prescott, let’s see if he finally comes through. … Did I just let that slip?” he joked about the Cowboys quarterback.

“One of the best defensive players, Micah Parsons, what a great player he is. And coach (Mike) McCarthy.

“I love covering them. Of course, I’ve been against them for a long time and now I can tell everyone how great they are.”

Brady knows there may be some obstacles, but he believes his preparation so far has prepared him for this next step.

“I know I’m coming in here as a rookie, but I know I’m going to work extremely hard, like I always do,” he told USA Today in 2022. “I still think there are a lot of things I’ve learned throughout my professional career that I can take with me into another career.”

Expect Brady’s voice to become a commonplace on NFL Sundays, just as other well-known commentators have come into our living rooms like family over the years.
