CARROLL COUNTY, Georgia. – The wife of a Carroll County sheriff’s investigator who was shot and seriously injured while executing a search warrant thanks church members for praying for her husband.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey told FOX 5 Atlanta that Bristow was in the area of ​​Don Rich Drive in Carrollton on Tuesday to assist in the execution of a “child sexual exploitation search warrant.”

Then a gunman opened fire, hitting the deputy, who had worked for the sheriff’s office for about six years.

Bristow was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery.

The suspected shooter was later found dead. The sheriff’s office claims neither officer fired their weapons during the altercation.

On Tuesday evening, Bristow was released from the operating room and taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit, where he has been recovering since then.

The sheriff also asked the public to “please respect the family’s privacy at this time.”
