Whoopi Goldberg of ‘The View’ defends Kelly Clarkson against critics who ‘kicking’ her ass over her weight loss

Whoopi Goldberg continues to support Kelly Clarkson after their open conversation on The Kelly Clarkson Show went viral. Goldberg – who spoke about Clarkson’s weight loss and her own on the May 13 episode of Clarkson’s talk show – defended Clarkson in The view after she received unexpected reactions to her open conversation.

In today’s episode of The viewGoldberg hit back at critics who claimed Clarkson had not been honest about her weight loss. While the American Idol The former graduate did not reveal to viewers on her show what medication she was taking, but she said: “Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else.”

Goldberg said today that Clarkson’s admission had angered some fans who accused her of previously attributing her weight loss to exercise.

“Kelly is getting backlash from people who say she previously claimed she would lose weight by walking. One point: Many people take this injection because they need it,” said Goldberg, who takes the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, on The view“Some people need a jump start, some have diabetes, there are many reasons. She could walk. But that helped.”

Goldberg continued, “I don’t know why. They kick her in the butt when she’s fatter, they kick her in the butt when she’s lost weight. And now they’re kicking her in the butt for saying it out loud. Maybe it was more comfortable for her to hear someone say, ‘I did that too.'”

During an appearance on Clarkson’s show earlier this month, Goldberg discussed her own weight loss, telling the host that she weighed 300 pounds before taking Mounjaro and recalling the moment a reporter falsely claimed she wore a fat suit for her role in “The 2022: A Fatsuit.” Until.

“I was doing a movie and a woman thought I was wearing a fat suit… I was outraged! I thought, that’s not a fat suit, that’s me! And then I saw myself… I thought, yes, it actually looks like I’m wearing a fat suit,” Goldberg told Clarkson.

Goldberg also said she had lost “almost two kilos” and praised Mounjaro as a “wonderful shot” that had “really done her good.”

The view airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
