All good things come to an end, including the Olympic Games. Fortunately for us, Paris is making sure that athletes and fans are sent off with great pomp.
The festivities, entitled “Records,” will feature more than 100 artists, all committed to bringing the vision of Artistic Director Thomas Jolly to life, and a collection of some of the world’s most popular musicians, all with one thing in common: their state and country of origin.
Sunday’s ceremony, to be held at the Stade de France – the venue for the rugby sevens and athletics competitions – is expected to thrill crowds in much the same way as the various sporting competitions that preceded it. The event will also serve as the handover for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles.

Perhaps that is why the four musicians, all of whom have a particular fondness for Hollywood, were recruited from the French capital to round off the evening.
Here’s a look at the artists who will take Paris by storm on Sunday afternoon.

While the opening ceremony provided a platform for local French artists to showcase their skills – alongside Lady Gaga and Celine Dion – the closing ceremony will spotlight four of California’s most popular musicians: Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers and HER
All four artists are from California; Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers call Los Angeles – or the immediate surrounding area – their home.
The quartet will be tasked with leading the transition as Jolly’s showcase looks ahead to the 2028 Games. All four have received critical acclaim, not only for their musical achievements – they have a combined 18 Grammy wins and more than 50 Grammy nominations – but also for their desire to put their hometowns front and center throughout their respective careers.
Expect the same at Sunday’s performances.

Do the artists get paid for the opening ceremony?
Contrary to some reports, the musical groups performing at the closing ceremony are not paid.
An Olympic spokesperson denied rumors that artists like Eilish and Snoop Dogg were paid a nice sum of money to sing.
“Contrary to some media reports, performers will not receive any remuneration for their performance at the 2024 Paris Games ceremonies,” an Olympic spokesperson told Page Six. “Their decision to perform under these conditions reflects their desire to be part of a historic event for France and the world of sport.”
Snoop Dogg reportedly received a pretty hefty paycheck for his work during NBC’s Olympic broadcasts. New York-based venture capitalist Henry L. McNamara took to social media to say that he overheard Snoop’s daily Olympic salary from an NBC executive at dinner. It revealed that the 52-year-old rapper was making $500,000 a day. If those numbers are accurate, that means Snoop Dogg earned more than $8.5 million at the end of this year’s Olympics. Not bad for 17 days of work.
