After a dramatic cliffhanger ending in Monday night’s fantasy suite episode of The Bachelorette, fans were eagerly awaiting the resolution of what happened after Devin knocked on Jenn Tran’s door.
Devin suffered an emotional breakdown, confiding in host Jesse Palmer that he felt like he was “withering away” because he was unsure about Jenn’s feelings for him.
In Tuesday night’s special “Men Tell All,” viewers finally got the answers they wanted. Jenn eliminated one of her final three suitors during the rose ceremony in Hawaii.
First, the cameras returned to Hawaii and captured a heartfelt conversation between Jenn and Devin in their hotel room. “I’m just in a weird mood… I’m questioning what’s going on in your head,” Devin confessed to Jenn. “I love you. I’ve been through a lot to be here.”
Jenn, visibly close to tears, responded, “I’m not as good at speaking as you.” She expressed to the camera that she wanted to make Devin feel chosen, but didn’t know how to maintain a healthy relationship. Eventually, Jenn admitted, “Devin, I love you, you fucking idiot!” Devin responded, “I love you, Jenn!” This touching exchange thrilled the Men Tell All audience.
Before the rose ceremony, Jonathon regretted not confessing his love to Jenn sooner and feared it might be too late. His worries proved to be justified, as Jenn presented roses to Devin and Marcus, leading to Jonathon’s elimination. Jonathon told Jenn, “It was my fault that I was such a slow burn… It took me too long to realize how incredible you are… you were perfect for me and I wasn’t perfect for you.”
Jenn thanked Jonathon for everything and hugged him as he drove away in the van. Jonathon emotionally confessed, “I’m angry at myself… I feel like the biggest idiot in the world.”
In the episode “Men Tell All,” Sam M. faced his feelings. Jenn had eliminated Sam M. earlier in the season because he couldn’t put into words what he loved about her. Sam M. admitted that he had a hard time rewatching the show and realizing his weaknesses. Although he claimed he was “100 percent” in love with Jenn, he admitted that he “fell extremely short of his expectations.”
Sam M. defended himself by saying, “Everyone loves differently,” when criticism from the other men threatened. He also clarified that his comments about expecting different Bachelorettes were not meant as an insult.
During the discussion, Jonathon expressed to Jesse Palmer that he felt like he “missed out on something incredible” with Jenn, noting that there was “never a dull moment” between them. Jesse hinted at a possible future for Jonathon on Bachelor in Paradise, which excited the audience. Jonathon eagerly accepted the invitation and was excited to be a part of the beach spinoff’s 10th season. Hakeem, another contestant, also agreed to join Bachelor in Paradise after having a difficult experience of his own with a large spider.
The episode also featured a sneak peek of the next season of The Bachelor starring Grant, who was eliminated in episode six of Jenn’s season. Grant returned in the Men Tell All episode and spoke about his wishes for his future wife. He revealed his preparations for the ladies’ pageant and humorously mentioned that he would do “100 push-ups a day.” Grant conveyed that he is looking for “a kind soul” who treats others well. Jenn supported Grant, claiming, “Nobody deserves it more than you.”
On the Men Tell All special, Jenn looked stunning in a low-cut green dress as she recalled moments with her past suitors. She expressed her nostalgia for seeing them again and paid special compliments to Jonathon and Sam N. However, she saved her harshest criticism for Sam M., accusing him of disrespecting everyone and blaming the producers for his portrayal on the show. Jenn urged Sam M. to improve, noting, “I want you to be better,” and expressed pity for his future partner if he doesn’t change.
The episode concluded with a preview of next week’s emotional finale, with Jesse reminding us that it will air on Tuesday, September 3, after Labor Day.
