Axbridge served as a stand-in for Little Kilton, which is said to be in Buckinghamshire, one of the British counties near London. No, Little Kilton is not a real village. However, author Holly Jackson has revealed that the fictional town is based on Great Missenden, a small village in the heart of the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, best known as the town where children’s author Roald Dahl lived for 36 years until his death.
