Where is the money for broadband? Our list tracks BEAD approvals

Because the NTIA approval process for initial BEAD proposals is ongoing, the number of states and territories receiving approval changes weekly.

Here is a list to track which states and territories are eligible to apply for access to federal broadband funding through BEAD.

Fifty-six states and territories are vying for money under the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which would invest $42.45 billion to expand affordable and reliable high-speed internet access across the United States.

Following a federal process, Louisiana became the first jurisdiction to receive approval from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for its initial BEAD proposals in December. It took nearly six months for the next approvals to be announced.

After initial proposals are approved, states and territories can apply to access BEAD funds. States that receive approval for their initial proposals, such as Louisiana, must later submit a final proposal.
