Contestants on the Celebrity Race Across the World 2024 have given many heartwarming reasons for taking part in the show, from spending more time with their partner to having the experience of a lifetime.

Two seasons of Celebrity Race Across the World have been filmed so far – the 2024 episode will air on BBC from Wednesday 14 August. There were four seasons of the civilian version.

We take a look at the previous winners of the previous celebrity spin-off series and where they stand now…

The 2024 edition of the show has already been filmed. The stars will embark on the 12,500 km journey of a lifetime from Belém in northern Brazil – the gateway to the Amazon. They will pass five checkpoints across South America to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in southern Chile.

Only one couple will take home the title of Celebrity Race Across the World 2024. The 2024 field includes presenter Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy, actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, model Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy, and Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé) Sam.

The winners were kept top secret while the television show was airing on our screens. Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer of Studio Lambert, said: “Following the phenomenal success of the first celebrity series and the recently aired fourth season of the regular series, we can’t wait to take audiences to the vast South American continent and its stunning landscapes, in a race that will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits.”

Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford won the 2023 Celebrity Race Across the World, the show’s first season, alongside his father Noel. During the Celebrity Race Across the World, they crossed 24 countries in 28 days, covering 10,000km from Marrakesh in Morocco to Tromsø in Norway – an amazing feat.

The father-son duo said they were over the moon when they won the show last year. Noel said: “It was really special. Alex kept saying to me, ‘Come on, daddy, come on, daddy’ and I said, ‘I’m right behind you!’ He just kept pulling me along and now it’s all worth it!”

Beresford added: “This is the hardest experience I’ve ever had. But we were able to travel together as men, and that’s not something every father and son can do. So for me, this was unforgettable and something I will remember for the rest of our lives.”

Following his victory in Celebrity Race Across the World, which aired in autumn last year, Beresford returned to his job at ITV presenting the weather on Good Morning Britain. He has presented the weather on ITV for more than 10 years, initially as a regional personality in the west of the country before making a name for himself on the national team.

Unsurprisingly, Beresford has caught the travel bug and continues to jet around the world after this incredible experience. In January this year, the TV star finally made it to Paris, where he’s always wanted to go. He wrote on Instagram: “There’s always that one place you’ve always wanted to visit, but for some reason you never seem to get there. This weekend we arrived and were beamed down by icy winter sun that kept us cool with every one of the 60,000 steps! Exhausted but happy. Thank you Paris.”

The weatherman recently enjoyed a family trip to New York City, where he visited his father’s eldest sister, Aunt Eula. Beresford explored New York City with his wife Imogen McKay and son Cruz. He also returned to Mallorca, where he married Imogen in a cliff-top temple in 2022. Beresford kept his fans updated on his travels via his Instagram account.
