What to do with the old MacBook Air?

What to do with the old MacBook Air?

I recently dug out my old MacBook Air just to see if it would boot up. It booted up fine, but then I was bombarded with pop-ups from Settings telling me I couldn’t sign in to my Apple ID due to connection issues. After some digging, I found that it’s because I have Advanced Data Protection enabled on my other Apple devices. After initially going through the hassle of setting up ADP, I decided to disable it for more than just an outdated laptop.

This MacBook Air is a 2012 model with a dual-core I5. It’s ancient by today’s standards and doesn’t do much that’s really useful. Judging by the trade-in value on Apple.com, Apple is just going to recycle the whole thing because it’s so outdated.

So at this point I’m not really sure what to do with it. My wife loathes, despises and hates Apple with all her heart so I won’t be giving it to her lol. I would give it to my wife’s tech-illiterate parents but they think their current laptop with Windows XP is perfectly adequate for them so that’s a definite no too. My parents have their Apple products so they’re covered and I don’t travel nearly enough to make it worth taking on air travel or anything like that.

Any ideas what I could do with it? I have no problem factory resetting it and wiping my data, but for now I’m hoping to get some use out of it if I can.
