The Jacksonville Jaguars will end the 2024 NFL preseason with a game against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They are currently on a two-game losing streak, having last beaten the Dirty Birds back in 2018.
Even though the game doesn’t factor into the standings, there are plenty of exciting storylines to keep an eye on. First, Trevor Lawrence and the regulars will play about two quarters. That’s plenty of time. The second and third teams will take the field in the second half and the coaching staff will proceed with the evaluation.

The Jaguars have won two games in a row. The last win was against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite the inadequate defense, the offense had no problems moving the ball. The defense also held its own and showed how much depth the team has in several positions.
On the other hand, the Falcons lost to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 of the preseason. One of the biggest storylines was that their coaching staff decided not to use rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr., even though he would have benefited from the extra work. Atlanta drafted him eighth overall earlier this year, even though they had already signed Kirk Cousins as a free agent.
Cousins is scheduled to start in the regular season but is currently recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered last year. Penix will most likely hold down the fort during his absence but, like several starters, will not play in the final game of the season against the Jaguars.
