Cowboys fans watching on CBS will have a familiar commentary team: Bill Jones will provide game-time commentary, Isaiah Stanback will be the co-commentator and Kyle Youmans will report from the sidelines. The NFL Network commentary team has not yet been announced.
The Cowboys last played the Raiders in the 2021 regular season. Las Vegas emerged victorious in overtime thanks to a short field goal by Daniel Carlson. These teams have faced each other 13 times in their respective histories, with the Raiders narrowly prevailing 7-6.
Although Dallas and Las Vegas haven’t played each other in three full seasons, they actually faced each other last preseason. Cowboys fans may remember Will Grier’s heroic last-gasp salvo against Dallas. The Cowboys had just traded Trey Lance, so Grier was surely out.
In a tryout for the other 31 NFL teams, Grier completed 29 of 35 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 10 times for 53 yards and two more touchdowns with his legs. It was an incredible farewell.
It would be a chaotic final week of preseason play if Lance played even half as well on Saturday as Grier did in this game.
