GARDEN CITY, Idaho — A lot of work goes into Idaho’s largest event, and the day before opening is especially busy as vendors and exhibitors put the finishing touches on their booths before the Western Idaho Fair opens.
- The fair features 55 food stalls, 300 commercial stalls, rides, free concerts, free entertainment experiences and various competitions.
- Sunscreen stations, water refill stations and wheelchair rentals will be available at the event.

Start your engines…wash your cows…and grease your wheels because the Western Idaho Fair opens at noon Friday.
“We’re building a little town, we call it a day of controlled chaos. Everyone is trying to get ready, set up their booth or do the last minute food preparations while we get ready. The fair is down there putting the finishing touches on things, so it’s a busy day for us,”

He tells me that there is a lot of planning involved in running Idaho’s largest event, and that the day before opening is especially busy.
The fair is taking place for the 127th time this year and offers the people of Idaho a wide variety of experiences.
“Well, we’ve got a whole bunch of stuff here… We’ve got five and six different free entertainments, 55 food stalls, 300 commercial stalls and then all the goodies that the local community brings in to judge. When they come here, they’ll see all the food stalls are open. We’ve got a whole bunch of entertainments for them to check out, the carnival is ready to go. I mean, it’s totally ready to go to have a good time for the big party at the end of the summer.”

This year’s event features animal exhibits, food vendors, a new roller coaster ride and many interactive experiences.
