The Gamescom 2024 trailers want to be here with you, Keighley explained in his opening monologue. They are not aimed at You. You are with you. That’s nice. Thanks, video games. And if we measure – as we surely must – the willingness of these advertisements to spend time with us by how quickly they appear on our screens, then we certainly like the FPS sequel Borderlands 4 the best.

Do we love it too? Who knows. But it exists and no subtitles are used. That has to count for something, right?

If you can tear yourself away from watching this rich snippet over and over again, here’s a Xitter post from Gearbox with the clip and a promised 2025 release date. “Watch it again (and again, and again)!” the post says. I hope I don’t sound cynical saying that, no, actually I’m fine. I got all the information I needed the first time around.

We haven’t seen a new entry in the main series since Borderlands 3 in 2019, but the last game with that name was New Tales From The Borderlands. “This is my favorite game,” wrote Alice Bee (RPS in peace) in her review. “I just can’t get over how good this is. I couldn’t stop laughing. It reminded me of my favorite author, Ernest Cline.” Kudos, Alice. Kudos.
