Watch: New Evil Film featurette offers insights into “Popular,” “Dancing Through Life” and more

The new video explores the on-screen friendship between Elphaba and Glinda and the off-screen relationship between Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

The Evil The promotional pull for the film continues with another featurette video, this time focusing on friendship. In the video above, see how stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s relationship mirrors that of their on-screen characters in the two-part film version of the Broadway musical.

But we know what fans are most excited about: glimpses of musical numbers. This new footage offers a nice look at the scene work surrounding “Popular,” as well as moments from “What Is This Feeling?” and “Dancing Through Life.” Watch the video above.

Jon M. Chu is responsible for directing the upcoming films, the first part will be released on November 22nd. The second part is expected to be released on Thanksgiving 2025.

Tony winner Erivo and Grammy winner Grande play Elphaba and Glinda. West End Pursue Olivier winner and Bridgerton Main role: Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, SpongeBob SquarePants The cast includes Ethan Slater as Boq, Emmy winner Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond, 2023 Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard and newcomer Marissa Bode as Nessarose, the first wheelchair user in the musical’s history to take on the role.

Stage and screen star Keala Settle, SNLBowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael also play roles that are new to the film adaptation of the musical: Settle as Miss Coddle, Carmichael as Professor Nikidik and Yang, James and Teoh as the Shiz students Pfannee, ShenShen and Avaric.

The film, which will include new songs by Stephen Schwartz, is directed by In the heights Film director Chu. Evil Book author Winnie Holzman wrote the screenplay and Tony winner Paul Tazewell designed the costumes.

The musical is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire and features music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Holzman. The show won 2004 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (Menzel), Best Costume Design (Susan Hilferty) and Best Set Design (Eugene Lee).
