Watch 9-year-old singer Journeyy from New Jersey wow America’s Got Talent with a Bob Marley song

Journeyy Belton from New Jersey quickly became a favorite on “America’s Got Talent” with his totally original audition.

Not only did he sing a song he had written himself, “Paradise,” but he did so at just 9 years old and with so much feeling, verve and style that he was considered a sure candidate to take part in the show.

And he did that by appearing live on “AGT” for the first time on Tuesday night.

Belton, from Jersey City, known as Journeyy on the show, sang a cover of “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

The results of today’s vote have yet to be announced – that will happen on Wednesday night’s show – but it looks like Journeyy could well be one of the acts to advance from the quarterfinals to the semifinals.

The young singer, who accompanies himself on the piano, said he would try to expand his vocal range during his performance. He did so, hitting the high notes and assuring everyone that “everything will be fine.”

When he finished, Journeyy smiled at the camera.

Judge Simon Cowell smiled back.

“Howie (Mandel) just told me, and he’s right, this is a moment, and it really is,” Cowell said.

Judge Heidi Klum praised Journeyy for taking on such a famous song.

“I think you are the best tonight,” said another judge, Sofía Vergara. “That was flawless.”

For Mandel, too, the performance of the talent from Jersey was “the most exciting thing that happened tonight.”
