Warner Bros. announces that not all seven books will be adapted for the Harry Potter reboot

The upcoming Harry Potter The restart usually occurs during Goblet of Fire.

While Harry Potter has one of the richest, best-realized stories of any franchise, it just has one frequented era along their timeline: the Harry Potter Era that is framed by Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone And Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The Fantastic Beasts The film trilogy begins about 80 years before the Boy Who Lived first enters Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but the time frame covered by these three films is hardly as well documented as, say, star Wars‘ very own era of the prequel trilogy.

Soon Harry Potter Projects

The open-world video game Hogwarts Legacy (2023) goes back even further, set in the late 19th century. While we’ll have to wait and see if future sequels to the title explore this particular era further, it’s largely an untapped section of the timeline.

Then there is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2016), the unique West End play that was performed 19 years after Deathly Hallowsin which Harry, Hermione, Ron and Draco are now adults and have to take care of their own children as they begin their journey to Hogwarts.

Fans know best the Harry Potter era, so it makes sense that most future installments of Wizarding World will be set in this part of the timeline. Between the books and the movies, Potterheads remain happily engrossed in Harry’s journey.

Two future Harry Potter Projects already seem to avoid everything before Philosopher’s Stone or after Deathly HallowsFirst of all, HBO/Max’s upcoming television series is a “faithful adaptation” of author JK Rowling’s seven books.

But there is a new video game coming that will also delight fans with the Harry Potter Era: “Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions” (2024). The game revolves around the iconic sport of the wizarding world and is a reboot of “Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup” from 2003.

A new teaser now strongly suggests that the game will be played mainly during Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – Harry’s fourth year, in which Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry hosts two other wizarding schools – Durmstrang Institute in Northern Europe and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic in France – so that they can participate in the Triwizard Tournament.

The teaser confirms that both schools will appear in “Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions”:

“Welcome to the Triwizard Quidditch Cup!” reads the video’s description. “Fly through the Pyrenees Valley at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, race for the Snitch under the Northern Lights at Durmstrang Institute, and celebrate a well-deserved victory on the beloved grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!”

While the game will likely chronicle your entire Hogwarts career from first year to graduation, it is unlikely to include other key elements from the Harry Potter era, such as the Battle of Hogwarts from Deathly Hallows.

We are sure there will be many references to all seven books, but with the addition of the Triwizard Quidditch Cup, it is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire — by far the most “sporty” game in the series — seems to have the biggest influence on the game.

Otherwise Harry Potter reboot will not be an adaptation of the books. The website’s FAQ page states that “Portkey Games are not direct adaptations of the books and films,” adding, “These experiences were not written by JK Rowling and will not be direct adaptations of the books and films.”

In Quidditch Champions, players can choose between iconic characters such as Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in the eight films, or create their own Quidditch champion. But what influence do the Triwizard Schools have on your Quidditch career?

“As you whiz through the Career Mode of this upcoming Quidditch game, you’ll have the opportunity to compete in the Triwizard Quidditch Cup,” explains WizardingWorld.com, adding, “And the best part? You get to choose which of the three Triwizard Schools you want to play for. Maybe you’re a Seeker looking to channel your inner Viktor Krum for Durmstrang. Or is the role of the Beauxbatons thug more your thing? Maybe you want to follow in the footsteps of Oliver Wood and be an unstoppable Keeper of Hogwarts.”
