Wanted man arrested in Henry County for multiple crimes

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A wanted man was arrested on multiple felony charges after a Henry County Sheriff’s Office search warrant was executed on a residence.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said the man was wanted on multiple warrants from several law enforcement agencies, including the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Martinsville City Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.

According to officials, the man was found hiding under a trailer at 1106 Joppa Road in Ridgeway on August 20.

William Jackson Kennedy, 44, of Henry County was arrested and faces the following charges in multiple counties:

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

  • Violation of probation conditions (minor theft, 3rd/further offense)
  • Violation of probation conditions (escape from prison)
  • Violation of probation conditions (aggravated shoplifting)
  • Violation of probation (serious crime of evading police)
  • Violation of probation conditions (possession of ammunition by a felon)
  • Violation of probation conditions (burglary with intent to steal)
  • Violation of probation conditions (aggravated theft)

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office

  • Violation of probation (possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute)
  • Possession of Schedule I or II controlled substances with intent to distribute
  • Driving despite having your license revoked

Martinsville City Police Department

  • Violation of probation conditions (two counts)

Virginia State Police

  • Serious crime: hit and run
  • Driving despite having your license revoked

Kennedy is being held without bail at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center.
