Waco-McLennan County Library announces Fine Forgiveness Month

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Do you have books you can no longer check out from the library? The Waco-McLennan County Library just announced Fine Forgiveness Month for the entire month of September.

From September 1 through September 30, the library will waive all late fees for library materials returned to any of the library branches.

The program waives all late fees, reactivates all suspended library cards, and waives replacement card fees. Library patrons can get fees waived for the cardholders of other library patrons and guardians of a child’s account when the books are returned.

According to the Waco-McLennan County Library, the offer does not include fees for replacing damaged books, fines and fees for interlibrary loan (ILL), copies, scans and faxes, and annual fees for nonresidents and short-term residents.

“We want to remove barriers to library access and encourage everyone to rediscover the joy of reading,” said Roberto Zapata, Waco Library Director. “Fine Forgiveness Month is an opportunity for our community to reconnect with their library and explore all we have to offer.”

Lost or missing items must be returned or replaced before fines will be waived. For more information, visit wacolibrary.org or your local library branch.
