A Seattle-based company offers Volkswagen ID.Buzz campervan conversions which embody the groove of the VW microbus hippie mobiles.

Peace Vans, a manufacturer specializing in motorhome conversions, offers three such conversion options for the fully electric ID.Buzz. Deliveries expected to begin in November of this year. This is happening independently of VW, which has no official partner for camper conversions or bodies in the USA. So far, the carmaker is only planning to offer camper-friendly accessories for the ID.Buzz.

The company’s Buzz.Camper is complete mobile home with a lounge area that converts into a bed, cabinets, a cooktop, a sink and an integrated water tank. This requires the removal of both rear rows of seats (the ID. Buzz is only sold as a three-row people carrier in the US). An alternative, Department of Transportation-approved rear seating system is in development, which Peace Vans hopes to have approved by mid- to late-2025.

The Buzz.Box is more geared towards foodieswith a modular kitchen unit in the rear that replaces the third row of seats. It includes a 35-litre fridge, cooktop, sink, water storage and multiple work surfaces, as well as wireless device charging and integrated lighting and sound systems. A Buzz.Boz.Sleeper adds what Peace Vans calls a “nearly queen-sized” sleeping platform that requires the second-row seats to be folded down.

Prices for the Buzz.Camper option will be announced in the third quarter of this year. Peace Vans will also sell a limited number of pre-assembled ID.Buzz campers, allowing customers to take delivery of the vehicles with the conversion work already carried out.

Peace Vans is also working on a version of the iconic “poptop” roof made from old VW buses for the ID.Buzz. The company hopes to have it ready by the end of 2025 and will give front-of-line spots to customers who buy its other ID.Buzz conversions. Its website says all designs are still a work in progress and subject to change as development progresses. But given how long it will take for the ID.Buzz to arrive in the U.S., potential customers will definitely be patient.
