Vizzina says his performance in the Spring Game prepared him for a good summer

CLEMSON – With fall practice complete, No. 14 Clemson is now focused on Game 1 against top-ranked Georgia. After practice Tuesday, the media spoke with backup quarterback Christopher Vizzina.

–Vizzina had high praise for the defense for its performance in fall camp. He said, “Our defense has prepared us really well and I’m really excited about it.” He later added, “We’ve worked really hard and now we’ve turned the tide. We have an opponent, but at the end of the day we’re playing Clemson and we don’t want to beat ourselves.”

-Looking back, he didn’t perform as well as he hoped in the spring game. He addressed how those difficulties prepared him for the season. He said, “I didn’t have the spring game that I wanted, but I think that really gave me a really good summer and a really good fall camp and set me up really well.”

-The redshirt freshman was asked about quarterback Cade Klubnik and how he has emerged as a leader this year. He said, “He’s hungry, just like all of us. Everyone has a lot of energy and really good chemistry. This team is very tight and this quarterback group is very tight and I think that will pay off as the season goes on.”

–In recent training sessions, Georgia’s fight song has been played over and over at maximum volume. Vizzina said, “I know we’re going to hear it a lot, so we’re preparing for it.”
