Three-time Olympic gold medalist Rai Benjamin is interested in signing a one-day contract with the New York Giants.

Benjamin, who won two of his three gold medals for the United States at the Paris track and field competitions, spoke about his desire to join his hometown team for a day during an appearance on ESPN on Friday.

“I just want to sign a contract for one day,” Benjamin joked. “That’s all, for one day. I don’t need anything else. I would sign a one-day contract. I’ll play offense, come on. It’s that simple. Listen, if you need me, let me know. I’m telling you now, just let me know. I’ve got a pair of cleats in my closet at home right now.”

The 27-year-old already has some football experience and played wide receiver and safety during his high school years in Mount Vernon, New York.

Benjamin won the 400-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games in Paris with a time of 46.46 seconds, securing the second gold medal of his career.

He did not have to wait long for his third victory, because the very next day he helped the USA to victory in the 4×400 meter relay.

Typically, high school football experience isn’t enough to make the NFL roster, but Benjamin is still interested in a one-day contract with his favorite team.
