Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has not yet celebrated his successful summer.

Edwards posted a freestyle rap on Instagram inspired by the U.S. team’s gold medal win at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were among the teammates he cheered on in the one-minute video:

The 23-year-old was one of the few bright spots at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where the United States finished a disappointing fourth. In Paris, he made it clear he could be the national team’s next standout with James, Curry and Durant likely moving on, averaging 12.8 points on 58 percent shooting.

This comes after Edwards took another step forward in the 2023–24 NBA season, making the All-Star team for the second consecutive year and receiving a handful of MVP votes. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game during the regular season before helping the Wolves reach the Western Conference finals.

Edwards has already ruled out participating in the next World Cup in 2027. But in four years he could perhaps celebrate another triumph with the US team.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll see the 6’4″ guard compete in a freestyle competition with the Larry O’Brien Trophy long before then.
