Vance campaigns in Westmoreland County • Pennsylvania Capital-Star

U.S. Senator JD Vance, the Republican Party’s vice presidential candidate, will return to Pennsylvania on Thursday morning to deliver a speech in New Kensington.

“The U.S. military is facing unprecedented recruiting difficulties due to the dangerously liberal Harris-Biden administration,” said a press release from former President Donald Trump’s campaign team. “For the past three and a half years, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have focused more on advancing their woke agenda in the military than on ensuring success on the battlefield.”

Vance, a Marine veteran, is expected to be supported by U.S. Representatives Jim Banks (Republican, Indiana), Brian Mast (Republican, Florida) and Michael Waltz (Republican, Florida), all three of whom are also military veterans.

The presidential campaign of Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris responded by linking the Trump-Vance candidate team with “Project 2025,” the conservative Heritage Foundation’s concept for a Republican presidential administration.

“Now, Trump and Vance’s extreme Project 2025 plans would cut veterans’ hard-earned benefits and health care,” said Onotse Omoyeni, Pennsylvania Rapid Response Director for Harris for President. “Vice President Harris and (her running mate) Governor (Tim) Walz believe we should thank those who have served our country, not disparage them — which is why they will always fight to ensure our veterans and military families receive the benefits and respect they have earned and deserve.”

Thursday is Vance’s second visit to the Keystone State since he was appointed Vice President by Trump. His Previous visit was in Philadelphia on August 6th.

Trump will also come to the state Saturday for a rally in Wilkes-BarreIt will be the Republican presidential candidate’s seventh visit.

Vance’s stop in western Pennsylvania on Thursday will be in a Republican region of the Commonwealth. Although Trump lost Pennsylvania in 2020, he won Westmoreland County, where New Kensington is located, with 28 points about the ticket of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
