Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been delayed – again – to the first half of 2025, as developer The Chinese Room wants to spend the extra time refining the game and expanding its story.
“While the game is far enough along that we could have met our planned release window, Paradox and The Chinese Room have jointly decided to prioritize fine-tuning,” The Chinese Room said in a statement on its website. “This will be used to create a quality assurance buffer that allows more time between testing and release, ensuring we release the game when it is ready. The extra time gives us the opportunity to adjust certain areas like Fabien and incorporate further feedback from the community. It’s been a long road, but we are nearing the final stages of development and will announce the release date once we are happy with the level of fine-tuning of the game.”
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was originally scheduled to release in Q4 2024, avoiding some of the biggest games of the year that are coming out during the holiday season. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and Silent Hill 2 are just a few of the notable releases on the gaming calendar, and in between there are dozens of other games that could have potentially slowed Bloodlines 2’s momentum.
The game had a difficult development cycle after its initial announcement and was nearly cancelled after original developer Hardsuit Labs was dropped from the project following another delay. The Chinese Room took over and was officially confirmed as project lead a few months later. The developer has been quite active in demoing several of Bloodlines 2’s new features – like a dynamic dialogue system that can significantly change gameplay – and it has also fleshed out its vampire underworld with brief glimpses of clans like the Ventrue, Brujah and Tremere.
“Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” is set in Seattle and takes players into the dark side of a city on the brink of open war. As an older vampire, it is up to you to influence the outcome of this conflict between the factions.
