The United States women’s basketball team continues its quest for an eighth consecutive gold medal with its semifinal match against Australia on Friday. So far, Team USA has played its games largely without problems, defeating Japan, Belgium and Germany in the group stage. Australia comfortably beat Serbia in its quarterfinal match on Wednesday, while the USA defeated Nigeria 88-74 en route to the semifinals.

Australia’s leading scorer is Sami Whitcomb, who averages 14.8 points and 6 assists per game. Australia’s scouting report is likely to be solid, with head coach Sandy Brondello (who also coaches the New York Liberty) at the helm.
