Two people, including an 11-year-old girl, were hospitalized after being injured in a knife attack in London’s Leicester Square, UK on Monday.
In addition to the young girl, a 34-year-old woman was also attacked. Police have not identified the two people and have not said whether they are related. Police arrested a man in connection with the attack but did not provide any further information about his identity.
The victims are now in hospital, but police have not yet confirmed the severity of their injuries.
“Officers are at the scene of a stabbing in Leicester Square. A man has been arrested and is in custody.” London Police said a statement published on X.

“We do not believe there are any other suspects. Two victims, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, have been hospitalized and we are awaiting updates on their condition,” the statement continued.

Police added that paramedics treated the two women at the scene before sending them to a major trauma center.
The attack came less than two weeks after a 17-year-old stabbed a Taylor Swift dance class for young children in the UK.

Three children were killed in the attack, and five other children and two adults were in critical condition.
Authorities have charged Axel Rudakubana, born in Wales to Rwandan parents, with the attacks. The attack sparked a storm of anti-immigration sentiment across Britain, leading to violent clashes between anti-migrant protesters, police and migrant groups.

Rudakubana was seen smiling at his first court appearance since the attack. He is accused of the murders of Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, as well as 10 counts of attempted murder for stabbing to death eight other children and two adults who tried to help them.

Swift himself said She said she was “completely shocked” and was still processing “the horror” of the attack in the days that followed.

“They were just little kids in a dance class,” she wrote in an Instagram story. “I don’t know how I can ever express my condolences to these families.”
