PUEBLO COUNTY – Two officers were attacked by an inmate at the Pueblo County Jail, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred Saturday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, James Gilbert attacked officers on the maximum security floor of the prison.
The sheriff’s office said one of the officers was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The other officer suffered minor injuries to his face. The officers’ names have not yet been released.
According to the sheriff, Gilbert is currently in jail for robbery and assault. The incident is still under investigation, they say.
