Two accidents in Forrest County leave three people hospitalized with injuries

FORREST COUNTY, Mississippi (WDAM) – Two accidents Friday on or near Interstate 59 in Forrest County left three people hospitalized with injuries.

Brandon Odom, chief of the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department, said the first 911 call came in around 3:40 p.m. Friday when units were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash near the southbound exit of a bridge over Interstate 59 on the Evelyn Gandy Parkway.

When units arrived, they found a heavily damaged Honda car on the side of the road. The eastbound lanes were partially closed.

Hydraulic tools were needed to free a man from his vehicle. Two adults were taken away from the scene of the accident in an ambulance. All other people involved refused transport.

Forrest County Fire Department units also assisted on site.

The second call came in around 6:30 p.m. when units responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries at mile marker 73 on I-59.

When emergency responders arrived, they found that the right northbound lane was partially closed.

Witnesses said a large liquid storage container was parked in the left lane, which led to the accident.

An adult was taken away from the scene of the accident by ambulance.

Mississippi Highway Patrol officers were also on site at both accidents.
