With Labor Day approaching, the 2024 presidential campaign is entering a crucial phase. Both the Harris-Waltz and Trump-Vance campaigns are stepping up their efforts and traveling across the country to connect with voters in key swing states.

Harris and Walz target Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan

Vice President Kamala Harris will begin a two-day bus tour of Georgia on Wednesday. Along with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris will travel through southern Georgia, speaking to rural, suburban and urban voters, including many black and working-class families. The tour will culminate with a rally in Savannah on Thursday evening.

Harris is expected to focus on economic issues, including housing affordability, and compare her vision to that of her opponent, former President Donald Trump. The campaign has released a new ad highlighting her ambitious plan to create three million new homes within four years.

Harris will appear alongside President Joe Biden on Labor Day, their first joint campaign event since her nomination. She also plans to appear in Detroit. Walz, meanwhile, will travel to Wisconsin, another swing state that Democrats must win in November.

Trump and Vance step up their campaign events

In response to Harris’ growing support, the Republican candidate is stepping up his campaign schedule. After facing criticism from within his party for failing to adapt to the changing dynamics of the campaign, Trump is now taking a more aggressive approach, focusing on multiple events a day, especially smaller, issue-based gatherings in swing states.

This week, Trump and Senator JD Vance will hold several rallies and a town hall meeting in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Thursday. Vance will visit Pennsylvania and Wisconsin on Wednesday, while Trump will visit Michigan and Wisconsin on Thursday. The Trump campaign is stressing the importance of these “blue wall” states, which Harris is unlikely to lose.
