SALISBURY, MD – Salisbury University Police have issued a traffic alert for Camden Avenue between College Avenue and Pine Bluff Road from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, as approximately 900 new students and their parents arrive on campus for move-in day.

They make up more than half of this year’s almost record-breaking class of around 1,470 first-year students at SU.

Northbound Camden Avenue traffic not bound for the university and coming from the Fruitland/Eden areas will be detoured to Route 13 at the intersection of Pine Bluff Road and Camden Avenue this morning. To save time, northbound traffic may be detoured one intersection earlier, at Kay Avenue, to Route 13 or use Riverside Drive until the detour ends at 2 p.m. Traffic should return to normal flow by early afternoon.

At the intersection of Camden and College Avenues, all southbound traffic will be detoured onto Route 13. Those seeking access to the Devilbiss and Blackwell parking lots on campus should turn off Route 13 onto Dogwood Drive. Traffic will be detoured northbound from the intersection of Dogwood Drive and Camden Avenue to these parking lots.

Access to Camden Parking Lot F (Blackwell Parking Lot), Camden Parking Lot E (Devilbiss Parking Lot), Route 13 Parking Lots A and B (Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons, Conway Hall, and Perdue Hall), College Avenue Parking Lots G and H (Conway Hall Parking Lots), Dogwood Parking Lot D, and the Wayne Street Parking Garage is restricted to inbound and delivery traffic only. All others should park in the Avery Parking Lot.

SU employees who normally park on campus should park at the former Court Plaza Shopping Center on Route 13. Employee shuttles will run from there to the main campus from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This advisory is issued in cooperation with Wicomico County Public Works, Maryland State Highway Administration, City of Salisbury, Salisbury Police Department and Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.
