Tom Cruise storms into closing ceremony and takes Olympic flag for LA 2028 – NBC Chicago

In an epic transition from Paris to Hollywood, Tom Cruise flew into the Stade de France in an epic stunt and took the Olympic flag from Simone Biles as the 2024 Olympic Games came to a close and the world looked ahead to 2028 in Los Angeles.

Cruise floated into the midst of the athletes gathered for the closing ceremony, shook hands, took selfies and headed to the stage, where he took the Olympic flag from Simone Biles and disappeared.

A video then showed Cruise, in the style of “Mission Impossible,” boarding a plane on a motorcycle and saying he was on his way.

The video then cuts to Cruise performing a series of action moves before cutting to a shot of the iconic Hollywood sign with the Olympic rings.

Several athletes then carry Cruise’s flag, while the scene ends with performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

In March, Cruise was spotted with a film crew at the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles as they climbed the famous landmark, People reported at the time. He was also filmed appearing to hand someone a flag. A spokesperson for Cruise did not respond to the network’s request for comment on what the actor was filming.

At the end of April, he was also spotted riding a motorbike on the streets of Paris at night before the official filming of his latest movie, Mission Impossible, began. At the time, he was spotted with a film crew and a white flag near the Saint-Georges metro station, the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and around the Arc de Triomphe.

Since the next Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in 2028, the Hollywood connection was a fitting Olympic handover from Paris.
