Tom Cruise pulls off epic stunt at Olympics closing ceremony: WATCH

During the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, Tom Cruise abseiled into the state of France.

The Mission: Impossible The star performed one of his signature stunts at Sunday’s ceremony, sliding 35 metres down a rope from the roof of the venue as part of the handover to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.

Cruise was seen greeting the athletes present at the ceremony before landing and carrying away the Olympic flag on a motorcycle.

A recorded section then showed the Super shooter The star carried the flag on a plane back to the USA before hanging it over the Hollywood sign.

A report by TMZ Earlier this month, it was revealed that the Los Angeles portion of the stunt was filmed in March, with insiders admitting they expected the Hollywood star to have been spotted earlier and the information to have leaked out.

Cruise is said to have been the driving force behind the spectacle and approached the International Olympic Committee (IOC) himself to bring the Paris and Los Angeles Games together with a series of stunts.

Meanwhile, HER, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre also performed at the ceremony – with the “Fight For You” singer singing the US national anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” in the stadium and the latter quartet performing from Venice Beach in LA.

The event also served as a tribute to the sporting events of the last two weeks in Paris, and IOC President Thomas Bach joked that the Olympic Games had been “Seine-sational”.

“The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris were a celebration of athletes and sport at its finest. The first Olympic Games fully implemented our Olympic Agenda reforms: younger, more urban, more inclusive, more sustainable. The first Olympic Games with full gender parity,” he said.

“From start to finish, these were sensational Olympic Games – or, if I may say so, HIS-sational Olympic Games.”

“The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris were the Olympic Games of a new era,” Bach added.
