Tom Cruise ends the Olympic Games in Paris with an epic, death-defying stunt

Hollywood superstar and action film icon Tom Cruise ended the 2024 Paris Olympics the only way he knew how: by risking his life for our entertainment.. The Mission: Impossible Stern jumped from the top of the Stade de France to mark the handover of the Paris Olympics to the LA Games, which will be held in 2028.




In a section worthy of any appearance by Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise jumped from the roof of the stadium, the largest in France, and landed effortlessly on the stage where Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo presented him with the Olympic flag. But that wasn’t all: Cruise then jumped on a motorcycle and rode out of the stadium. A pre-recorded clip shows the actor jumping out of a plane and landing next to the Hollywood sign to mark the handover of Paris to Los Angeles.

Tom Cruise’s latest death-defying stunt in Paris followed the nation’s honoring of the actor, as the celebrated actor was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by French Culture Minister Rachida Dati. Cruise was just one part of the star-studded closing ceremony, which featured performances by Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and HER, among others. The closing ceremony was organized by artistic director Thomas Jolly and executive director Thierry Reboul, with the Olympics finale also spotlighting several well-known French bands, including Phoenix and Air.

LA Mayor Karen Bass previewed the 2028 Games (via Reuters), saying the event will reflect the city’s “diversity and international character.”

“I think our Games will really showcase the diversity and international character of our city. And we have Hollywood, so I expect a lot of magical opportunities, starting perhaps as early as the closing ceremony.”
