Today will be the day the Oasis brothers end their feud

“Don’t look back in anger,” they sang.

Easier said than done.

In the 90s, Oasis was omnipresent. But 15 years later, the band was history.

The group’s debut album “Definitely Maybe”, released in 1994, topped the album charts in the UK and achieved breakthrough and platinum status in the US.

The Manchester band’s explosive appeal was cemented in the UK and across the pond with their mega-hit “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?” Released in 1995, the album reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 1996. The song “Wonderwall”, which peaked at No. 8, became the band’s signature song and anthem.

However, the most famous members of Oasis, brothers Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher, also attracted a lot of attention through their arguments and turbulent relationship, which ultimately led to the band’s breakup in 2009.

The Britpop and alternative rock band’s songs were ubiquitous in the US – including “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova” – and the group was seen as a genuine global star.

Now, 15 years after their separation, the Gallagher brothers have apparently decided to reconcile their relationship and are planning a major reunion with a series of concerts.

According to a report in the Sunday Times citing “industry insiders,” Noel Gallagher, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 51, will be back on stage together in the summer of 2025.

The news comes just days before a milestone for the band on August 29th – the 30th anniversary of the release of “Definitely Maybe”. A deluxe anniversary edition of the album is set to be released on August 30th.

The Oasis brothers’ last joint appearance was the V Festival in August 2009 in Stafford, England.

According to the report, unconfirmed rumors about the reunion show plans include concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester and Wembley Stadium in London, which could be booked for up to ten nights of Oasis shows (if true, that would break the eight-night record set by Taylor Swift earlier this year).

Liam Gallagher appeared to respond positively to the Sunday Times article on social media, replying to a fan on X (formerly Twitter) with the message “See you at the front”.

Liam, who will headline the Reading Festival in England on Sunday, remained active on X and responded to fans in the hours leading up to his performance.

People wanted to know what plans he had for 2025.

“World domination,” he said.

“I never liked the word FORMER,” he said in another post.

The Sunday Times also reports that Oasis may headline the massive Glastonbury Festival in 2025, the 30th anniversary year of “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?”

Oasis released seven studio albums before their breakup, including “Be Here Now” (1997), which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 – a record for the band in the US; “Standing on the Shoulder of Giants” (2000); “Heathen Chemistry” (2002); “Don’t Believe the Truth” (2005); and “Dig Out Your Soul” (2008), which peaked at number 5.

The band’s line-up has changed over time, but when Oasis disbanded, Andy Bell (bass and rhythm guitar, keyboards) and Gem Archer (lead guitar) were members of the band alongside the Gallagher brothers.

While Noel and Liam were known for their disagreements, it was a backstage argument in Paris that was the turning point. Noel left the group after Liam damaged one of his brother’s guitars during the argument.

Liam Gallagher performed without his brother this summer to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Definitely Maybe.”

And although the Gallaghers have been publicly feuding for so long, hurling insults at each other that left little room for ambiguity, Noel Gallagher recently praised his younger brother in a video post marking the 30th anniversary of their debut album (see below).

“He was always great at understanding things,” Noel said of Liam, praising his singing voice, musical talent and attitude when performing. “You didn’t have to explain anything to him.”

“Definitely Maybe,” he said, are “these uplifting melodies with almost romantic lyrics but a damn menacing delivery.”

While Liam Gallagher was initially the lead singer of the band, the brothers took turns on various songs (Liam sang the lead vocals on “Wonderwall” and Noel sang “Don’t Look Back in Anger”).

“He has a great tone,” Noel continued of his brother. “What I always liked about it in the studio was that you didn’t have to mess with it.”

“If songs were drinks, Liam’s would be a shot of tequila, right, and mine is half a Guinness… mine is half a Guinness on a Tuesday – that’s fine. Liam’s is 10 shots of tequila on a f***ing Friday night.”

“When I sing a song, it sounds good,” Noel said. “When he sings it, it sounds great.”
