A hot weekend is predicted for San Antonio (August 17 and 18, 2024) (Copyright 2024 by KSAT – All rights reserved.)

Happy weekend everyone! Saturday is the seventh day in a row of 38 degrees. That’s quite a stretch, but nothing compared to the longest stretch of consecutive days of triple-digit temperatures ever recorded. That stretch last year was from July 30th to August 21st, when we had 23 days in a row of 38 degrees.

Still, take care this weekend if you plan to be outside. The heat index could reach as high as 41°C in the afternoon, but humidity will be noticeably lower in the evening hours.

The only difference in the forecast from Saturday to Sunday is that it will be a bit windier on Sunday, with winds from the south at 10-15 mph and some gusts up to 20 mph.

Looking ahead to the coming week, the heat will be right over us, causing temperatures to climb a few more degrees. The good news? There’s still hope that a low pressure system will move through deep south Texas Friday into next weekend, bringing with it additional cloud cover and a slight chance of rain. This could end our streak of triple-digit temperatures. We’ll keep you posted!
