Tigers and leopards on the hunt: Fear grips villages in Ganjam and Cuttack after spate of sightings

Bhubaneswar: A tiger was spotted in Hirapalli forest in Buguda range of Ganjam district, spreading fear among the locals. The tiger is said to have attacked and killed a cow, causing panic among the villagers.

According to reports, the cow was grazing in the jungle when the tiger attacked it. A cowherd named Debraj Nayak witnessed the incident and informed the villagers, who later found the cow’s carcass and the tiger footprints in the jungle.

After being informed, the forest department officials, including officials from Buguda and Odagaon range areas, visited the spot and assessed the situation.

The cow’s carcass was sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

However, the forest department has not confirmed whether the attack was actually carried out by a tiger or any other animal.

Apart from this, a leopard was spotted in the jungles near Jayapur and Gopapur villages in Baranga in Cuttack district, spreading fear among the people.

According to reports, the leopard was first spotted by some residents of Jayapur village around 9 pm on Sunday. Later, it was also spotted in Gopapur village. A photo of the leopard went viral on social media.

The news of the leopard’s presence has created panic in the area. Many locals are worried about the animals’ safety. The forest department has been informed and officials are expected to visit the area to assess the situation.

The frequent appearance of wild animals in human settlements has raised concerns about the safety of humans and animals.
