Three kilometers to the end of the world

Emanuel Parvus Three kilometers to the end of the world won the award for best feature film at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, which presented its awards yesterday (Friday, August 23).

The Romanian film, which debuted in competition at Cannes earlier this year, received the 16,000 euro prize, co-financed by the Sarajevo Canton Tourism Association.

Set in a conservative community in the Danube Delta, the film follows a gay teenager’s journey of self-discovery that clashes with the traditional values ​​of his parents and neighbors.

Yorgos Zois was awarded Best Director for the Greek-Bulgarian-American co-production Arcadiawhich was produced in co-production with the British company Two & Two Pictures. The acting awards went to Anab Ahmed Ibrahim – Best Actress for Village next to paradise – and Doru Bem – Best Actor for Holy Week.

The prizes of the feature film competition were awarded by a jury consisting of President Paul Schrader, Juho Kuosmanen, Noomi Rapace, Una Gunjak and Sebastian Cavazza.

In the Olga Chernykh documentary film competition A picture to remember won the award for best documentary, continuing the festival’s recent series of honoring Ukrainian films and filmmakers. The essay film depicts a family’s journey through the war with Russia, told from a first-person perspective.

Anna Rubis documentary Your life without mein which a group of mothers join forces to sue the state and secure a dignified future for their disabled adult children, received the Human Rights Award

Zlatko Pranjic and Nanna Frank Moller received special awards for The sky above Zenicafor environmental awareness; and Maja Doroteja Prelogs Cent’annito promote gender equality.

The awards were presented on Thursday as part of the festival’s CineLink Industry Days program. The winners include Tall women And Honey bunny.

During the festival, previously announced honorary awards were presented to filmmakers Alexander Payne, Paul Schrader, Elia Suleiman, Meg Ryan, John Turturro and Philippe Bober, as well as Christof Papousek, managing partner of Cineplexx International.
