Lately, there have been so many new products in the deli section at ALDI that I have to drive by with my shopping cart loaded with quarters, even when I have no intention of buying anything in that section of the store.

That’s how I discovered a new, delicious grated cheese mixture. I actually hadn’t planned on buying cheese, but as so often happens at ALDI, my plan changed.

What I love about ALDI’s shredded triple cheddar cheese

The new Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese blend at ALDI could also be called a triple threat. It’s a blend of three sharp cheddars from Wisconsin, Vermont and New York, and wow, is it good.

For $2.89, you get a half pound of gorgeous cheddar slices. This beautiful blend of white and gold slices starts out mild and develops into a tangy delight as you snack. Because it’s made with three different types of cheddar, its depth of flavor surpasses that of regular cheddar slices. It’s one of those cheeses, especially when melted, that you take one bite of and immediately want to take another bite or ten.

How I use ALDI’s shredded triple cheddar cheese

This irresistible flavor pairs well with many dips, like my sister’s sour cream-based bacon ranch dip (it tastes as delicious as it sounds, and it would taste even better with this cheese).

It’s absolutely perfect for grilled cheese. It also melts well on chicken. For an easy dinner, season and bake chicken breasts or chicken thighs, and two to three minutes before they’re done, add a handful of these strips and grill until melted.

If you like cheddar mac ‘n cheese, this blend is for you as it melts easily. It’s also great for gratin potatoes. The shreds would also enhance many cheese casseroles – I’m thinking potato casseroles, tuna casseroles, and anything with pasta.

It also pairs well with salads: Chef salads, BLT pasta salads, and summer spinach salads all taste great with a little of this cheese blend. A handful of shreds melt perfectly on a burger and go especially well when bacon is involved.

Finally, it’s a great mix when making tacos or enchiladas – sprinkle some Tajín seasoning on top for even more flavor.
